I am learning to use language features to make my recount more interesting for my readers.

Whangarei Pools

Splash! Splash!

I was at the Whangarei pools with my whanau. It was a beautiful sunny Wednesday and I was enjoying my holiday.

Swish Swish I was barrelling down the slide as fast as a rocket. Swish swish side to side.

The rushing water pushed so fast. Suddenly Swoosh I flew out off the slide and crashed into the warm water.

“Wow that was so amazing.” I said to myself.

I had the best time. It was wonderful.

I dashed into the cold pools. “It’s not that cold” I said to my mum. Me TK and Rawiri enjoyed playing water fights. We played for 2 minutes but there were no waves. Then the warm pools finally opened. I tried to swim from top to bottom but I only made it into the middle. “Oh well,” I said to myself, “I’ll try that again in the next holidays.”

I had an awesome day at the pools.
